Monday, March 28, 2016 : 3 p.m.
Please meet in the box office lobby at 2:45 p.m.
Join us on Monday afternoon, March 28th, 2016, at 3 p.m., for a behind-the-scenes tour of America's premier concert hall—a rare opportunity to see the hall from the orchestra's perspective. Learn why the superb acoustics of Symphony Hall are legendary and hear about the visionary Henry Lee Higginson, who founded and generously funded the BSO and oversaw the building of this beautiful hall. Symphony Hall was designed and built by McKim, Mead, & White, who also designed the Boston Public Library.
We will also visit the working area of the hall in the basement, where so much of the activity that we never see takes place, from loading and packing the instruments, to the practice rooms and the vast area that stores the seats and tables that enable Symphony Hall to be transformed into a cabaret twice a year for the Boston Pops concerts.
Following the tour, we will gather at Brasserie Joe's, an easy walk from Symphony Hall, for libations and a lively discussion… and perhaps even an early dinner.
Please let Judy Bell know if you can come.
Please contact Judy Bell by Thursday, March 24th, to make your reservation. Note: Easter is March 27th. Please let her know if you will be joining us after the tour at Brasserie Jo’s, as well.
*Husbands/significant others welcome.*
Suggested donation: $10 per person.
