The FAUSA 2021 Getaway was a huge success. We gathered together for the first time in two years and everyone was so happy to finally be able to see each other again. The getaway was blended one with both online and in person participation for the first time and it was well received. 35 people participated in person and 20 participated online.
We had the opening dinner at the home of Rick Chizmadia and Richard Hobson and it featured a fun photo booth. Friday we had a day full of exercise supporting the virtual mission as we walked around Cincinnati.
Saturday was the annual meeting and a very fun evening where Squeeze Play Accordion Band provided entertainment and dancing at the GALA fundraising Dinner.
The climax of the evening was the silent and live auctions and the raise the paddle thermometer campaign. The fundraising thermometer brought it home by raising $10,000 in donations. Add that to the quilt tickets, silent and live auctions, the getaway brought in the highest philanthropic amount ever! Over $19,000 was raised! Thank you to all who participated. A full Getaway recap will be published in the new issue of Highlights magazine coming to your email box this winter.
