Virtual Activities and Events

The following are summaries of the FAUSA virtual activities for FAUSA members. Dates, times and contact information are available in the Members section of the website.

FAUSA Virtual Mah Jongg

The FAUSA Mah Jongg group meets every second Thursday morning at 4pm Pacific (7pm EST). We chat on Zoom while playing together online at www.myjongg.net. We play the National Mah Jongg League version of the game, but if you’ve played other versions, we can help you get up to speed very quickly.

FAUSA Makers Craft Group

Join us for our virtual crafts group once a month at noon ET. Quilting, knitting, paper crafts, mending...and lots of good conversation!

FAUSA in Motion

FAUSA in Motion encourages you to get out and move, and to take advantage of the many benefits you gain from being physically active. In conjunction with FAWCO’s Clubs in Motion initiative to encourage members to stay physically fit and connect with FAWCO friends, FAUSA members submit activities on the 5th of each month to the FAUSA in Motion coordinator. Some examples of activities are walking, cycling, jogging, hiking, kayaking, dog walking, golfing and skiing. In addition, three or more FAWCO members exercising together can submit their distances/times.

Wine Time

All courses are held once a month, on a Saturday at 4pm Pacific (7pm EST) and delivered via a Zoom meeting. These online sessions will be limited to 20 minutes or less for instruction, with time after for questions and socializing with members. Members take turns hosting and will advise in advance as to which wines and/or foods to purchase, so that everyone will have a similar tasting experience.

Bridge Group

We play casual bridge every Friday afternoon, using Zoom to chat and Bridgebase.com for games.

FAWCO Club Reunion Groups

Want to get together with friends from your old FAWCO club who are now living in North America?! Have a Zoom social hour and reconnect!

Book Groups

There are three Online Books Groups reading a wide variety of books plus...

FAUSA Texas Book Group
FAUSA members in Texas connect monthly.

What in the World Book Club

We mostly focus on politics and current events, including current interpretations of past events. We usually meet the last Thursday of the month, at 6pm ET. All are welcome to join this lively (and enjoyably opinionated!) group of readers

FAUSA Virtual Road Trip

The FAUSA Virtual Road Trip is a virtual journey with your fellow FAUSA members.  Working in teams, participants log their daily workouts online.  Each mile logged moves the team along the route.  Any activity can be applied.  Most common are running, walking, swimming, and cycling.  The road trip begins in the spring and continues through to the fall.

FAUSA Social & Speaker Series

The Social and Speakers series features FAUSA members and FAUSA-related speakers and topics, along with some social time to catch up and connect with old and new friends.

A Taste of FAUSA

FAUSA members meet on Zoom to share and cook recipes together.

FAUSA Partners Group

More partners are joining in at FAUSA events. Many find that the activities while FAUSA conducts its business have been interesting and fun, and have enjoyed meeting others. The video chat will enable us to:

  • Get to know each other better so we have more in common when we meet at FAUSA events
  • Greet newly- repatriated partners at FAUSA events as friends, not as strangers
  • Enable  better- planned activities which reflect the wishes of a wider group than the usual few who plan these
  • Update each other, and any other business. Spur- of- the- moment agenda items are welcome.
