Caregivers Support Group: You Are Not Alone
Are you caring for aging parents while managing your own life and family responsibilities?
We're forming a supportive community for FAUSA members navigating the complex journey of caring for elderly parents, whether they're living nearby or many miles away. This challenge touches women across cultures and continents, and we believe there's strength in sharing our experiences, resources, and wisdom.
What We'll Offer:
- Virtual meetings accommodating different time zones
- Resource sharing for healthcare navigation, legal considerations, and emotional support
- Cultural exchange of caregiving approaches and family dynamics
- If possible, we may also have guest speakers on topics like elder law, healthcare advocacy, and self-care strategies
We're Looking For:
Participants who want to connect with others facing similar challenges, whether you're:
- Managing care from across the country or overseas
- Coordinating with siblings and family members
- Balancing work demands with caregiving responsibilities
- Dealing with difficult healthcare systems or insurance
- Struggling with guilt, stress, or feeling overwhelmed
A Group Leader to help facilitate our monthly gatherings. Ideal qualities include:
- Personal experience with elder care (current or past)
- Comfortable leading group discussions
- Point person to organize and set up meetings
Why This Matters:
Caring for aging parents often falls disproportionately on daughters and can feel isolating, especially when cultural or geographic barriers complicate the situation. Together, we can create a network of understanding, practical support, and genuine connection.
Interested in joining or leading? Please reach out with a brief note about your situation and what you hope to gain or contribute to this group.
